The Medical Plants Programme of Santhwanam – Social Apostolate Centre, Archdiocese of Thrissur is a sustainable livelihood initiative that empowers rural women Self-Help Groups (SHGs) through the cultivation of high-value medicinal plants with assured market support. The programme combines environmental conservation, income generation, and community-based entrepreneurship.
തൃശൂർ അതിരൂപതയുടെ കീഴിലുള്ള സാന്ത്വനം ആവിഷ്കരിച്ച ഔഷധസസ്യ കൃഷി പദ്ധതി ഗ്രാമീണ വനിതാ സ്വയംസഹായ സംഘങ്ങളെ (SHGs) ശാക്തീകരിക്കുന്നതിനുള്ള ഒരു സുസ്ഥിര ഉപജീവന മാർഗമാണ്. വിപണിയിൽ ആവശ്യമായ ഔഷധസസ്യങ്ങൾ കൃഷി ചെയ്യുന്നതിലൂടെ പരിസ്ഥിതി സംരക്ഷണവും വരുമാന വർദ്ധനവും സംരംഭകത്വവും ഒരേപോലെ ഈ പദ്ധതിയിലൂടെ സാധ്യമാകുന്നു.
We promote the cultivation of indigenous medicinal species that are in growing demand within the Ayurvedic and herbal medicine sectors, ensuring ecological balance and financial stability.
ആയുർവേദ മേഖലയിൽ ഏറെ ആവശ്യക്കാരുള്ള ഔഷധസസ്യങ്ങൾ കൃഷി ചെയ്യുന്നതിലൂടെ പ്രകൃതിയുടെ സന്തുലിതാവസ്ഥയും കർഷകരുടെ സാമ്പത്തിക ഭദ്രതയും ഞങ്ങൾ ഉറപ്പാക്കുന്നു.
The initiative is implemented in collaboration with the Kerala State Medicinal Plants Board and the Muttathoor Labour Contract Co-operative Society. This partnership ensures technical guidance, quality cultivation practices, and a guaranteed buy-back marketing system, protecting farmers from price fluctuations.
കേരള സ്റ്റേറ്റ് മെഡിസിനൽ പ്ലാന്റ്‌സ് ബോർഡ്, മുറ്റത്തൂർ ലേബർ കോൺട്രാക്ട് കോ-ഓപ്പറേറ്റീവ് സൊസൈറ്റി എന്നിവയുമായി സഹകരിച്ചാണ് ഈ പദ്ധതി നടപ്പിലാക്കുന്നത്. സാങ്കേതിക മാർഗനിർദ്ദേശങ്ങൾ നൽകുന്നതിനോടൊപ്പം ഉൽപ്പന്നങ്ങൾ തിരികെ വാങ്ങാനുള്ള (Buy-back) സംവിധാനം വഴി കർഷകർക്ക് സ്ഥിരമായ വരുമാനം ഇത് ഉറപ്പാക്കുന്നു.
Initially, the programme focuses on the cultivation of Kurunthotti (Sida cordifolia) and Bush Jasmine (Jasminum spp.), both of which have significant commercial value. Participants receive specialized training on nursery management, scientific cultivation methods, harvesting, and post-harvest handling to meet market requirements.
ആദ്യഘട്ടത്തിൽ കുറുന്തോട്ടി, കുറ്റിമുല്ല എന്നീ ചെടികളുടെ കൃഷിയിലാണ് പദ്ധതി ശ്രദ്ധ കേന്ദ്രീകരിക്കുന്നത്. നഴ്സറി മാനേജ്‌മെന്റ്, ശാസ്ത്രീയ കൃഷിരീതികൾ, വിളവെടുപ്പ്, വിപണിക്ക് അനുയോജ്യമായ രീതിയിലുള്ള ഉൽപ്പന്ന സംസ്കരണം എന്നിവയിൽ വനിതകൾക്ക് പ്രത്യേക പരിശീലനം നൽകിവരുന്നു.
