Vision for the Coast

Santhwanatheeram is a coastal community development initiative of Santhwanam – Social Apostolate Centre, Archdiocese of Thrissur. Operating through the Facilitation Centre at Chavakkad, the programme serves both local fishing families and migrant fishermen who travel seasonally to the Keralam coast in search of better fishing opportunities.

International Fisheries Day

A significant annual event is the International Fisheries Day celebration observed every 21 November. The event includes the Blessing of Boats, Fishing Nets, and the Sea, seeking God's protection for the fishermen. It brings together families, Church representatives, and government officials for cultural events and community gatherings.
